The Brandy Liston Advocacy Awards

 

AzDX is proud to honor the memory of Brandy Liston , Occupational Therapist, friend and colleague. Prior to Brandy’s passing in May 2001, she worked tirelessly to assist persons with disabilities to achieve a greater level of independence. Those of us who knew Brandy are committed to carrying on her legacy.

 These awards are given to a business & an individual who exemplify Brandy’s dedication to people with disabilities.

 

Vickie French

“As a long-time volunteer for Joni & Friends Greater Phoenix, 1st Southern Baptist Church , & Raising Special Kids, Vickie is committed to educate, promote self-advocacy, & provide resources to parents and individuals with disabilities.  As a mother of four children, one of which has Autism, Vickie is dedicated to her faith and family, and cares about the future of families who have been affected by disability”

 

 

AZ Diamondbacks

“The AZ Diamondbacks have been committed to providing programs that support the community, especially the children.  The AZ Diamondbacks Foundation focuses its efforts on raising money for community organizations, such as the MDA & UCP, as well as building youth baseball fields youth, including two accessible fields for children with disabilities.  The EASE committee at Chase Field assures that accessibility standards are adhered to so guests with disabilities have an enjoyable experience at the ballpark.

 

  

 

The Randy Werner  Award of Excellence

AzDX is proud to honor the memory of Randy Werner.  As President of Upward Motions, LLC, Randy assisted people in the disability community reach their goals of independence and self-empowerment. “Live Well, Love Always, and Laugh Often” was Randy’s favorite saying, as well as the way he lived his life.  

The Award is given to a person or organization that exemplifies Randy’s positive commitment to people with disabilities.

 

Joyce Weber, Happy Tails Service Dogs.Inc.

“Joyce is well known in the community for being a strong advocate & supporter for people with disabilities.  As an Independent Living Rehab Counselor, she assisted people with disabilities in achieving their independent living goals.  While in this position, Joyce started VOICE, a support group for people with disabilities, which is still active today.  Currently, Joyce is president of Happy Tails Service Dogs, a non-profit organization that she started that trains people w/disabilities and their dogs to work together to improve the person’s ability to be independent.”
