AzDX is proud to honor the memory of Brandy Liston, Occupational Therapist, friend and colleague. Prior to Brandy’s passing in May 2001, she worked tirelessly to assist persons with disabilities to achieve a greater level of independence. Those of us who knew Brandy are committed to carrying on her legacy. These awards are given to an individual (personal acheivement) and a business (organizational acheivement) who exemplify Brandy’s dedication to people with disabilities.
Randy Werner, President of Upward Motions, LLC:
AzDX is proud to honor the memory of Randy Werner. As President of Upward Motions, LLC, Randy assisted people in the disability community reach their goals of independence and self-empowerment. “Live Well, Love Always, and Laugh Often” was Randy’s favorite saying, as well as the way he lived his life.This award is given to a person or organization that exemplifies Randy’s positive commitment to people with disabilities.

Janene Werner - Currently the facilitator of VOICE, an informational support group for persons with disabilities, Janene is committed to carry on her husband, Randy's, legacy of teaching self-advocacy & self-empowerment to individuals with disabilities.
Organizational Acheivement:
F & M Builders - Paul Ferry & Joe Miller are contractors who have been doing home modifications for people with disabilities all across Coconino, Yavalai, Apache, & Navajo Counties for 15 years, no matter how big or small the job, or where the job is.

Brain Injury Association of Arizona (BIAAZ) - The BIAAZ is the only statewide organization in Arizona dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children & adults with brain injuries, along with their families. The BIA is also committed to the goal of preventing brain injuries.

Vickie French - “As a long-time volunteer for Joni & Friends Greater Phoenix, First Southern Baptist Church at Sahuaro Ranch and Raising Special Kids for many years, Vickie is committed to educate, promote self-advocacy and provide resources to parents and individuals with disabilities. As a mother of four children, one of which has Autism, Vickie is dedicated to her faith, family and cares about the future of families who have been affected by disability.”
Organizational Achievement:
Arizona Diamondbacks - “The Arizona Diamondbacks have been committed to providing programs that support the community, especially the children. The AZ Diamondbacks Foundation focuses its efforts on raising money for community organizations, such as the MDA & UCP, as well as building youth baseball fields, including two accessible fields for children with disabilities. The EASE committee at Chase Field assures that accessibility standards are adhered to so guests with disabilities have an enjoyable experience at the ballpark.”

Joyce Weber, Happy Tails Service Dogs - “Joyce is well known in the community for being a strong advocate & supporter for people with disabilities. As an Independent Living Rehab Counselor, she assisted people with disabilities in achieving their independent living goals. While in this position, Joyce started VOICE, a support group for people with disabilities, which is still active today. Currently, Joyce is president of Happy Tails Service Dogs, a non-profit organization that she started that trains people w/disabilities and their dogs to work together to improve the person’s ability to be independent.”

Tonja Wright - “As Coordinator of the Youth Transition Program at Page High School, Tonya works closely with the State & Navajo Nation Vocational Rehab Programs to prepare her school’s Special Ed Children to transition successfully from school to employment.”

Body Positive - “Body Positive is a Non-Profit Organization created by & for people infected and affected by HIV, providing the community with the knowledge, resources, & collective strength necessary for individuals to live long & well with HIV, as well as to prevent the spread of the disease.

Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center - “SARRC is a Non-Profit, Community-Based Organization dedicated to research, education, & resources for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) & their families. Through integrative research, educational outreach, model programs, & collaborative initiatives, SARRC sets forth, promotes, & facilitates best practices for early intervention & long-term care of individuals with ASDs.”
